here on the afternoon of the 25th. Sustained
after having been delayed in the Bombay Post Office
I have had similar complaints made to me lately, and have found that they have arisen from that cause.
The Complaint made by Messts Firan Gray VC: I beg to inform the Exetting impissifiable About the date of the 147th instant the whole detail and duty of the
Post office had devolved entirely upon myself and I can consequently afford with confidence that the letters for that firm were not asked for on the subsequent days; and I believe not on the day were delivered the fact is that I did not know to whom to send the letters. Their names were not mentioned in the lists in my office
I sent one of the letters, to one or two different houses but it was returned and they were not delivered till I had ascertained by enquiry to whom to deliver them It would have been a singular instance and certainly particularly remarked if Messrs Longston & Co had not received their letters so frequently when they rarely send for them. That they do not call for information of letters lying in the Post Office themselves may be fairly inferred from the fact that My Larkins & Co. and Fletcher Gray now receive their letters.
